Managing Requirements Like Assets - From Text Centric to Artefact Based Requirement Management
Presented by: Jean Falardeau
Using 2 real life cases in large Canada Insurance organization, M. Falardeau will present how he used different tactics to significantly increase productivity of his business analysis team. Some of the tactics include maturity assessment, BABOK 3.0 methodology implementation, use of requirement management productivity tools, knowledge transfer levers like community of practices, and other management support technics in a software package driven organization. A real business analysis function transformation initiative that led to 25% productivity gains in delivering requirements. He will also illustrate a case where combining BABOK 3.0 with new OMG standards like BPMN-DMN-CMMN made a real difference in AGILE design environment, for instance through the use of reusable requirement artefacts and use of “Lean” techniques.

Mr. Jean Falardeau has over thirty years of experience as leader in large service organization and as senior adviser and management consultant. He was the founding President of the IIBA® Quebec Region from 2010 to 2014, and is currently Director, Architecture and Business Analysis at Loran Technologies
As senior business analyst and project manager, he contributed directly to the implementation of more than 15 ERP projects. He also has been involved in the execution of business process driven transformation projects and re-engineering initiatives. He co-authored the French book “La Reingenierie des processus d’affaires dans les organisations canadiennes” on business process reengineering. He is now heavily engaged in training on business analysis using BABOK 3.0, including use of new standards like BPMN, CMMN, DMN.
