Business Analysis Journey at JM Family Enterprises
Presented by: Brett Renaud, Joanne Farfan-Meneses
The Business Analysis discipline, in some fashion, has been in existence at JM Family Enterprises for over a decade.
In past, the business analysts at JM Family were aligned by business units and reported into the business unit’s Project Management Office (PMO). They performed multiple functions which included project work, application/customer support, project management and quality assurance. As a result there was a lack of consistency around standards, methodology and professional development.
As the organization recognized the value of business analysis, the BA group within each PMO was sub-divided into the Support and Project BAs. The intent was to provide better focus on growing the business analysis capabilities. Some of the same challenges remained because BAs were still geographically and organizationally dispersed.
As the discipline matured, it was determined that in order to realize the full value of business analysis a new operating model was needed. In 2014, the Enterprise Competency Center was formed. Join us as we share our journey and the evolution of the ECC.
What Attendees Will Learn:
- Benefits of a BA Center of Excellence
- Creating Templates helps standardize and minimize confusion
- Collaboration through Peer Reviews and a Quality Review Board
- History and Challenges to getting to a BA Center of Excellence
