Presented by: Dan Myers

This session will use the data management lens to identify key organizational resources that business analysts can use to ensure they are agile and nimble. If you find yourself asking what terms mean, and hunting for data/process documentation, and wondering what your data quality is, then consider the following techniques and resources used at an example insurance company (large West Coast P&C insurer):
  • Enterprise Business Glossary (and data dictionary)
  • Data Flow Diagrams (high & low level)
  • Data Quality Levels (dimensions of data quality & profiling results)

Attendees will learn about common data management tools (listed above) and how to use them to improve requirements gathering and overall business adaptability/flexibility over time.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn what data-focused organizations use to document data & processes
  • Identify how governance and data management teams can support requirements development
  • Identify who has the information you need (to get the job done)
