Delivering Better Business Value through User Experience (UX) Design
Presented by: Andrew Walling, Caleb Carroll
As more and more companies are building software, rather than buying it off the shelf, it becomes increasingly important to develop “lean software”. This means only deliver functionality that users will actually use!
A user-centered design is focused on who users are, how they think, and what they’re trying to do. Today’s session will focus on how user-centered design techniques can enhance your BA skills set. Focusing on the actual user increases value delivered, faster solutions, and greater productivity.
We'll discuss:
- Why do we care about users?
- Introduce User Experience (UX)
-
UX methodologies and deliverables - different questions get different answers
- User research and its benefits
- Know the issues, challenges, and opportunities UX research provides
- Differences between BA and UX questions
- Drive out the user WHY in addition to the business WHAT and the HOW
-
UX design drives scope
- Information architecture
- User task analysis
- Lane change exercise
- Prototyping - evolution from drawings to front end design
- Execution
- Understand what the users value through moderated usability testing
What Attendees Will Learn:
- User Centered Design
- Prototyping - Continuous Feedback
- Usability Testing
- User Research and Personas
- Differences between BA and UX
- Information Architecture
