Enterprise Business Analysis: Adding Value to Customers and Wealth to the Bottom Line

Presented by: Kathleen [Kitty] B. Hass

In the first decade of the 21st century, as the profession of business analysis was just coming of age, globalization served as a wake-up call. In his introduction to the 2010 Global CEO Study, Samuel J. Palmisano, chairman, president, and CEO of IBM, said that the biggest challenge CEOs are facing is the network of complexities brought about by the Internet and the global economy. CEOs in the study said their organizations are not equipped to effectively manage this uncompromising complexity because they do not have the creative leaders they need. Enterprise Business Analysts are stepping up to fill this leadership void.

This session explores the various areas of focus for BAs: strategist, architect, business process designer, business rules/decision analyst, business intelligence analyst, value manager, agilest, transformational change expert, customer experience designer, and relationship manager to name a few. We will also explore the various domains the BA finds herself in, including: Technology-Driven Change – IT and Innovation, Business/Technology Optimization – It’s all about Value; and Industry-Specific Change Expert, such as Financial Services, Insurance, Education, Health Care, and Government/Non Profits. And finally, we will explore the leadership qualities for BAs of the future: Value Creation, Agility, Team Leadership, Transformational Change, Complexity Management, Creativity and Innovation.

There are subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the PM and the BA approaches to projects What are the differing perspectives? Are they complementary? Overlapping? Do they have differing views of scope and responsibilities? This session provides insights and examines the golden opportunities for the BA and the PM to collaborate to manage project complexity. The 21st Century Business Analyst will be the most sought after role in the coming years, so don’t blink or you will miss it!
