Business Design Methodology (BDM) is a structured approach to design new processes or to radically redesign current processes. BDM enables "breakthrough" business results by effecting operating models, renovating workflows, and reorganizing roles and responsibilities, within and across lines of business.  BDM is conducted after small process improvement initiatives have stabilized a process, but the process is no longer capable of meeting business needs, client expectations or strategic objectives.  BDM is an enabler of Business Architecture because it leverages the business's desire to envision the possibilities while planning for tangible implementation.  A BDM initiative is scoped, resourced and funded with business sponsorship and full engagement.  BDM outcomes align the people, process, technology and data capabilities with solution options and attainable benefits.  The majority of BDM initiatives spawn projects that are typically delivered via Agile because the transition from described capabilities flows directly into the development of product features.  BDM will continue to evolve as we incorporate Lean Design principles per organizational adoption.
