James has been leading agile development teams for well over a decade and has long since stopped believing that agile is the point. He has played consultant, architect and development manager roles at various organisations. He first fell in love with business rules in 2004 on an insurance origination system for the motor vehicle industry.

James is currently the Engineering Director at Envato, the world's leading ecosystem for digital creative people. He is a popular speaker at various conferences, including Agile Australia, Agile India and the Lean, Agile and Systems Thinking (LAST) conference.
