The Trio of Success: the PM, BA and QA
Presented by: Mihaela Popescu
Do PMs make good BAs? Do BAs make good PMs? What about QAs what do they have in common with the business analyst?
Let’s discuss the “pure” role of a project manager, a business analyst, a quality assurance analyst and their actual real life roles which are sometimes mixed. In these cases, business analysts may wear many hats: did you ever see the BA that codes or performs quality assurance or the PM that gathers and manages requirements?
What would success look like if roles were well defined instead of shared or blurred? What would be the equation of success to bring projects on time, on budget and with constant delivery of quality requirements and solution outcomes?
The presenter will share her experience and observations around the topic, showing different aspects of these roles with real life project examples. She will attempt to illustrate what project success looks like when you have a good balance and collaboration between the project manager, the business analyst and the quality assurance analyst.
The presentation will touch on challenges, be it organizational, industry driven or simply unforeseen, that may lead these roles to be distinct or blended and what the impacts on the overall projects successes may be.
Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate through real life project examples the need for a strong collaboration between these three roles to drive project success, deliver quality requirements and solutions and deliver overall better business outcomes
- Learn what impacts blending of these roles may have on projects and business analysis activities and how to understand these impacts and use them to achieve success
- Share approaches to assist the business analyst to better collaborate with PMs and QAs
