A Transformation Tale: How We Boldly Shocked The System

Now, more than ever, constant change has become the new normal. Businesses, especially those in the financial services industry, are being forced to explore new and innovative ways to handle and keep up with rapidly evolving technologies and their impact to customer experience and expectations. Being successful (and sometimes even relevant) requires not just doing it better, but mastering the ability to do it differently while staying nimble and responsive to the environment and customers.
Last year, Penn Mutual recognized that our previously successful waterfall approach to projects and change would no longer allow us to meet the expectations of our customers. Customers (both our clients and advisers) demand we deliver value continuously and at a much faster pace. It was recognized, however, that to be successful in changing an industry that can be technologically obstinate we would need to not only transform our business, but our mindset and approach as well.

As Assistant Vice President, Business Transformation, Sheri is responsible for setting the approach and overseeing the execution of business and technology transformational efforts at The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co. The Business Transformation team provides services in project management, business analysis, agile services, portfolio of change initiatives, and change management. Sheri and her team partner with business leaders throughout Penn Mutual to drive change.
Sheri's strategic oversight to multiple ongoing projects and responsiveness to new and changing priorities is evident in her 14 years with Penn Mutual. Previously she worked as a Business Analyst supporting multiple business areas before transitioning to the Product Management area, leading teams as they developed products from concept and feasibility to production.

Meghan Haley is a Business Analyst within the Business Transformation team at The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. She is passionate about incorporating new techniques, approaches, and tools in all analysis efforts, as well as thinking outside-the-box to help the business innovate. Meghan has 5 years of business analysis experience working across the organization. She began her career at Penn Mutual in the operational areas.
