This presentation aims at showing a new role that empowers at the same time the business and project performances of an enterprise: the Project Business Manager.

The Project Business Manager is a role that initially liaise with the Client in order to understand at strategic level the needs of the company, and define the solution and the change necessary to fulfill the needs, showing the business value for the enterprise. Once the Client approves the project, the Project Business Manager works mainly as a Project Manager to deliver the solution and manage the project to maximize the value for the Client. At the end of the project, the Project Business Manager evaluates the solution performances, and suggest improvements to maximize the value for the Client. This model helps implements the principle of “Engagement Project Management”, and brings value to both the Client, who sees the supplier as a “Partner” and get value from the project, and the Supplier, who creates business value for the Client and for its own company, and improves the performances of its project. This model can be achieved by merging together the Business Analysis and Project Management competencies into a one role. This model has been experimented in a big Italian telecommunication enterprise.
