How to Redesign an Organization, Processes, and Technology all at Once — Without Freaking People Out

Presented by: Joy Beatty

Reality is to stay competitive, businesses have become more agile and are ever-changing. They want to increase revenue, customers evolve, and employees change. However, organizational redesign is complicated, rife with emotions and politics. Most businesses want to do a lot of analysis before they make big organizational changes – which can be in conflict with maintaining agility. Sometimes there are organizational (people!) changes to be made, almost always there are process changes, and often there are technology changes. The catch is, the timeline and priorities of all of those don’t always align.

We rarely see these transformational programs go smoothly. In this talk, we’ll share lessons learned from actual case studies that might help you make your next organizational redesign more successful.

We’ll talk through the steps we followed on a recent organizational redesign, process improvement, and technology overhaul all at once. We’ll spend a bit of time on what not to do if you don’t want to derail these projects (we did take some missteps!). We will explore how to analyze the ROI and business objectives of an effort like this, especially when there is more than technology changing. Finally we can share a few rollout strategies once you’ve redesigned the organization and processes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand steps to successfully re-architect an organization
  • Understand techniques to evaluate and question the ROI
  • Understand what not to do in organizational redesign
