Facilitate and Lead Change - The Evolving Role of the Business Analyst

Presented by: Rick Rothermel

The nature of business today, the pressures of the economic crisis, and the rapid evolution of technology mean that businesses are in a constant state of change.  Effectively and efficiently managing change is a shared responsibility.  Leadership has the responsibility to identify and implement the right changes -- changes that will improve business performance, develop employees and grow the bottom-line financial stability of the organization.  Business Analysts have the responsibility to develop the skill and competency enabling them to partner with leadership to apply solid, proven change management methodology, processes and tools.   As the demands of business evolve, so must the role of the Business Analyst.

This presentation will focus on the evolving role and associated responsibilities and skills of the Business Analyst as referenced in the BABOK.  Participants will learn, and have the opportunity to apply foundational change management concepts, processes and tools that will make them even more valuable as team members and leaders.  They will also be given the opportunity to complete the Managed Change™ Skill and Competency Assessment and a Personal Development Plan targeting strategies and tactics to improve their change management capability.

Attendees will:
  • Learn how change management aligns with BABOK requirements
  • Understand how the application of a disciplined change management methodology can minimize resistance and accelerate acceptance of change
  • Practice the application of foundational change management methodology, processes and tools
  • Self-assess their change management competency and design a Personal Development Plan to improve their skill and ability to better serve as a Business Analyst.
  • Explore the integration of change management with other business process disciplines, e.g. project management, 6 sigma, lean, etc.
