Integrating Change Management Competency Builds Business Capability

Presented by: Rick Rothermel

Investing in the future of any organization or business often brings a focus on “fixing” or changing some aspect of its technology, processes, systems -- even the brick and mortar.  As Business Analysts, you are trained and skilled to assist organizations making these improvements or adjustments.  Leveraging business process, project management, lean, agile, 6 sigma and other business process tools provides the structure and discipline to define and implement the changes leaders demand.  The Business Analyst understands and can apply the skills required and specified in the BABOK.  So if we know what to do and how to do it, why do so many changes fail?

In this session, we will explore the impact of resistance to change, why up to 70% of all changes fail to achieve the intended results, and how the integration of a disciplined approach to change management with other business processes and Business Analyst skill and competency can improve the outcomes.   Participants will complete the Managed Change™ Organizational Competency and Capability Assessment to evaluate the readiness of their organization to effectively manage change.   Analyzing  assessment results, we will explore how leveraging the Ten Steps to building organizational change management capability can improve the ability to achieve the intended results of future changes.

What Attendees Will Learn:

  • Learn how change management aligns with BABOK requirements
  • Understand how the application of a disciplined change management methodology can reduce failed changes, minimize resistance, and accelerate acceptance of change
  • Assess the organizational readiness of their organization to effectively manage change
  • Practice apply the Ten Steps to Building Organizational Change Capability
