Using Business Architecture to Align Capital Markets Business Transformation with our Target Picture

Presented by: Andreas Kiaer, Annika Braenmark

The landscape of the banking industry is changing more rapidly than ever. Increased customer demands, new technology and the enhanced compliance demands are a few examples of disruptions that are making it harder to earn the extra buck in a low-interest environment. The banks need to change.

To achieve Nordea’s Target Operating Model, and the full magnitude of the Business Transformation needed to achieve this, a Business Architecture approach is being utilised. We have linked Value Propositions, Stakeholders and Products, Capabilities and Business Processes into a 3-5 year Target Picture.  Information and data structures and other relevant artefacts are also incorporated.

In a case study format, we will show:

  1. how we have built up a Target Operating Model (the Target Picture) within the Financial Risk area that we use as reference model to guide our Business Transformation, and
  2. how we use Business Architecture in projects in order to align to the Target Operating Model (the Target Picture)

Our end goal is to ensure that the Business Transformation is on track to delivering according to our underlying business needs.

What Attendees Will Learn:

  • Using business architecture to align business transformation to business needs
  • Understand learnings & pitfalls by building a target picture of a given business
  • How projects are using the target picture to ensure alignment
