BBC 2017 Speaker Series – Consultant:  Steven Stanton

In anticipation of his presentations at Building Business Capability in Orlando, Nov. 6-10, 2017, we asked Steven Stanton, Managing Partner at FCB Partners, a few questions about transforming the business.  Check out this interview in relation to his BBC presentations entitled, Digitize Your Processes and Work Smarter, Not Harder.

Q: In what ways do you help your client organizations handle business transformation?

A: We are very experienced in succeeding at Big Change Fast.  With this experience we help them anticipate and overcome the usual problems.

Q: Can you describe the challenges you face or have already overcome in establishing more robust business transformation capabilities for your clients?

A: It’s always the people issues.  No one ever failed at big change because of bad ideas.  Most organizations don’t spend enough resource on change management.

Q: What are your top suggestions for companies looking to become more agile?

A: Abandon your past.  Give the front lines bigger decision making authority.  Knock down your silos and keep them demolished.

Q: What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned in the past year?

A:  Small processes slow down big process transformation.  Sameness is the enemy of true reinvention.

Q: What do you see as the most important goal or trend for business analysts and other professionals to keep in mind?

A: Don’t get stuck, arrogant, or comfortable.

Q: Sneak preview: Please tell us a take-away that you will provide during your talk at the Building Business Capability (BBC) conference this year?

A:  It’s all about data.  We don’t need hardware or software; we need great data and the tools and operating model to use it well.
