• How is your presentation relevant to the theme of this year’s BBC conference: Innovation in the Fast Lane?

Innovating in the fast lane means continually improving upon your company’s business model. We help clients automate legal decisions that are part of an application process. We show you how you can apply rule analysis to improve your online dialogue with your applicants to ask more relevant questions. Our presentation will focus on taking what you already know about rule analysis and will build upon it to model an improved online dialogue with an applicant. We will show you how to model questions and structure answers so that you get all the information that you need faster.

• What are your top tips for companies or employees wishing to innovate?

In our experience, innovation only happens when you change up what you are doing–you can’t do the same thing over and over and expect innovation to happen. Charlie Munger says to learn “all the big ideas in all the big disciplines” and use them routinely—all of them, not just a few. The sum of what you learn is bigger than the individual parts. Ideas emerge when you get new insights. Most people are trained in one model to get new insights, you need to do something different—learn to look at a problem from different angles with different models and from different disciplines.
