• How is your presentation relevant to the theme of this year’s BBC conference: Innovation in the Fast Lane?

Innovation in the Fast Lane requires analysis of cost and benefits on a daily basis. Team members should always be evaluating potential benefits of each new idea and weighing them against estimated costs. Traditional business cases were long, formal documents but now we need to perform ‘business case analysis’ every day, with or without a document.

• What are your top tips for companies or employees wishing to innovate?

Tips for innovation. Be sure everyone understands the organization’s vision, current state value chain and customers. If you don’t know where you are starting from, you’ll never figure out how to get to a new idea, process, product, etc. Keep asking the questions “Who are we?” and “Who do we want to be?”
