• How is your presentation relevant to the theme of this year’s BBC conference: Innovation in the Fast Lane?

In this presentation I will speak about the origins of the words ‘Disruptive Innovation’ when it was first defined in 1995 by Prof. Clayton M. Christensen and Prof. Joseph Bowers. The point is that over the years, the term ‘Disruptive Innovation’ has been confused with any breakthrough innovation that has changed the competitive space of many industries. But this is not correct, as every different types of innovation require different strategic approaches. Then I will explore how the Digital world can be the engine for Disruptive Innovation, and give some guidelines on how to be a Disruptive Innovator in the Digital World.

1. Place the customers’ experience at the centre of attention;
2. Focus on the business model not on the technology, as the first is the brain of Innovation
3. Create processes that offer incredible customer experiences enabled by the use of new technologies.
